Ezra – Nehemiah

OVERVIEW:  There is one passage (Neh 13:14) rated 4, and two passages rated 3, in the books of Ezra and Nehemiah. The first verse refers to the maintenance (i.e., adding and deleting) of a heavenly record, or the book of life, that contains good and bad deeds committed by the person identified. The second verse tells us the creator God has made everything, including humans, and is the source of literal life for them. The third verse refers to the execution of God’s judgment of people and describes it as some kind of destruction that nobody could evade.

“Remember me for this, my God, and don’t erase the deeds of faithful love I have done for the house of my God and for its services” (Neh 13:14, CSB)

You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. To all of them you give life” (Neh 9:6, NRSV).

“Shall we again break Your commandments and intermarry with the peoples who commit these abominations? Would You not be angry with us to the point of destruction, until there would be no remnant nor any who would escape?” (Ezra 9:14, NASB).
